A FREE day out for all the family
It’s free fun and games for all on Saturday 9th June, at Severnside Housing’s annual Community Fayre in Shrewsbury, which will be themed around the Olympics and the Jubilee.
The free event, which is open to Severnside tenants and the wider community, is being held at London Road Sports Centre between 11am – 4pm on Saturday 9 June.
Activities will include football skills training, zorbing, archery, boxing taster sessions, plus the Paralympic sport of boccia, also known as armchair bowls. There’ll also be bingo, face painting and balloon modelling.
As well as activities, there’ll be cooking demonstrations, along with performances from the Tropikal Vizions steel band and the Chinese School of Telford’s Chinese Dragon.
There’ll also be lots of information about healthy eating and healthy lifestyles, plus a special Jubilee tea party.
Lots of local agencies will be there supporting the day, including Shropshire Council, Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology, Shropshire Primary Care Trust, the Prince’s Trust and West Mercia Police. There’ll be lots of local partnerships too, including the Severnside Resident Inspectors and Shropshire Housing Alliance.
Severnside isn’t providing food this year, so why not bring a picnic? There’ll also be vans selling food and refreshments on site.
Edge Abboh, Community Development Officer at Severnside Housing said: “Following the success of last year’s event, which around 850 people came along to, and feedback on the day, we decided to hold our Community Fayre at London Road Sports Centre this year.
“This year’s event focuses on healthy lifestyles and wellbeing, as well as celebrating the Olympics, the Jubilee and marking Severnside’s 10thbirthday. It’s also a chance for people to find out how they can keep involved and active in their local community.”
“There’ll be lots of fun and games, so I would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this free day out for all the family.”
