About Mutual Exchange
At Severnside Housing we are commited to providing affordable, quality accommodation. We understand that sometimes our tenants will want to move on - either to a new area or to a different type of home. Unless you live in supported adapted housing, you may be able to exchange your current home with another Severnside Housing tenant or a tenant from another social landlord. This type of 'home swap' is called a Mutual Exchange.
We are pleased to announce that we have signed up to a mutual exchange matching website for use by our tenants, FREE of charge.

What happens when I find someone to exchange with?
When you have found someone to exchange with, contact our Neighbourhood Team who will complete the necessary paperwork and make sure that both parties are up to date with rent payments.
We also need to ensure that neither property will be overcrowded or under occupied as a result of the exchange.
To ensure the safety of all our tenants, your current property will be inspected to check for outstanding repairs and to ensure that any improvements that have been carried out comply with our specifications. The property you are moving to will also receive similar safety checks. There may be a charge made for this service.
Will the exchange affect my tenancy?
It is important to check whether you will lose any of your existing rights by exchanging.
The Customer Service Centre will be able to advise you on the details of your new tenancy - whether it is with Severnside Housing or with a new landlord.
It is also important to make sure that you are happy with the new rent level and tenancy conditions, and the condition of the property you are moving to.
