Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP)

Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) can provide extra money when your council decides that you need extra help to meet your housing costs.

Your council will look at your circumstances to see whether you are eligible for a DHP. They will decide whether to give you a DHP, how much you will be paid and for how long you will receive the payment.

Local Support and Prevention Fund

The Local Support and Prevention Fund (LSPF) is managed by Shropshire Council to help vulnerable people who are facing crisis, or who may need help to stay independent in the community.  It meets short-term immediate needs.

This is not a cash scheme — cash would only be given if there was no other way of meeting need.
